The CEDAC project – Creative Educators of Digital Arts and Culture – has begun!
We have launched a major international project, CEDAC – Creative educators of digital arts and culture, funded by the Erasmus+ programme. We are partners of Fundacja Mapa Pasji (the Map of Passions Foundation) and are working with organisations from Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Greece and Portugal.
The aim of this project is to develop workshops and digital tools for educators from small cultural institutions (community cultural centres, libraries, local museums, etc.) who would like to encourage older people to make use of online arts and culture resources, and to create their own works and share them online with other seniors.
Within this project, Fundacja Rozwoju Przez Całe Życie (Continuum Foundation) is a partner of Fundacja Mapa Pasji and is working with partners from the Czech Republic 🇨🇿 (Ostravská univerzita), Greece 🇬🇷 (IDEC Training and Mobility Centre), Cyprus 🇨🇾 (Emphasys Centre) and Portugal 🇵🇹 (RUTIS – Rede de Universidades Seniores).
Why are we doing this?
The COVID-19 pandemic has hit many community cultural centres, libraries, Universities of the Third Age and NGOs promoting culture in small towns and villages. In addition, older people were at high risk of social exclusion and isolation during the pandemic because of a lack of digital skills, especially during the lockdowns.
The CEDAC project aims to tackle both of these problems. Firstly, by improving older people’s digital skills and creativity and by supporting their interest in arts and culture. Secondly, by offering educators from local cultural institutions suitable tools and methods to help them discover digital arts and culture resources, develop seniors’ creativity and support them in exploring the online world of culture.
The CEDAC project will produce:
* An innovative training programme for trainers/educators from cultural and educational institutions located in rural areas or small towns, which will motivate older people to enter the digital world safely, to discover culture and the cultural resources and events available online, and to be creative and brave enough to share their work with others online. The programme will consist of core modules as well as thematic ones, allowing the trainer to tailor it to the participants’ interests and skills.
* A modern e-learning course for trainers, designed for self-development. The course can serve as a guide to help trainers develop their skills and put them into practice in training sessions with seniors. It will also support their creativity, helping them to create new, innovative training modules based on their own knowledge and interests.
* An easy-to-use online platform (Webportal) for both trainers and seniors. It will offer online tools, websites and apps that encourage creativity, as well as the training modules and the e-learning course. The platform will also host “Seniortube”, where seniors and trainers will be able to share their works and creations, exchange ideas and practices, and start working with other seniors or trainers.
